In the past 10 years, University books has been on the rise. Books went up 85%. Each semester the majorities of universities recommended all students to purchase the latest book for their classes. Most students have to buy those books out of pocket while the only difference between the previous books might be between one or two chapters. This is a rip off!
Here at South University, we are no different than those universities; perhaps a great suggestion to conquer this issue is for our University to provide us a tablet with all the books.
Just a suggestion!
That's an amazing theory! A lot of times too, the teachers don't mind if you use a previous version to a textbook because they realize this issue as well. I know that FAU High they provide their students with iPad's to use in class and the students have the opportunity to purchase them if they'd like. The teenagers at FAU High don't even pay close to the amount we must just to sit down in a chair in the classroom...
ReplyDeleteI think that you are on to something here. I had a friend who attended Pellissippi College in Knoxville TN. In the nursing program the students were given a tablet to rent at the begining of the course and at the end had the option to buy the tablet or turn it in. My friend opted to keep the tablet and now uses it for other things as well, but is able to take his tablet to the ER and reference back to it when a difficult situation comes up. In fact I have seen the Drs barrow it at times.
